Filippos Tsimpoglou

Filippos Tsimpoglou has been appointed the director of the National Library of Greece (NLG), following a career as a director of the University of Cyprus Libraries, since 1999. Filippos Tsimpoglou is a graduate of the Economics Department of the Athens University of Economics and Business and holds a doctoral degree from Ionian University, Department of Archives, Library Science, and Museology and his thesis was entitled "Scientific libraries Cooperation in the digital environment. A systemic approach to the Greek reality "(Papasotiriou Ed., 2008).

In his rich resume, we notice his participation in several major interconnection projects, digitization, and library developments that were implemented by librarians in Greece during the last fifteen years. Currently, he is required to coordinate the Herculean task of running inventory of the NLG documents (books and manuscripts) and their transfer to the new building of the National Library which has been prepared by the "Stavros Niarchos" Foundation.
